Pōhutukawa holds the memories of our loved ones that have passed on, we call to Pōhutukawa in rememberance of those who have passed on. Matariki is a time where we remember and cherish our whānau. Within this illustration I included Pīwakawaka - Native Fantails who are the guardians of the realm of Hine-nui-te-Pō, the great goddess of the night who welcomes us after we pass on.
