Tayla Hartemink is a multi-disciplinary artist based in Wellington, New Zealand. Tayla graduated with a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from Massey University and is currently doing her Master’s in Māori Visual Arts.
Tayla works across many mediums including illustration, painting and digital artwork. Māori designs feature prominently in her artwork, blending customary and non-customary influences to highlight the beauty of Te Ao Māori and her identity as a contemporary Wahine Māori. Tayla’s research, artwork, and storytelling are strongly influenced by her upbringing and Ngāi Tūhoe roots. Tayla hopes to share her culture to support and shape current and future generations to embrace Te Ao Māori.
